Fall 2: Deadpoint Box Office Prediction: Can the Sequel Beat the Original’s $21 Million Run?

Fall 2: Deadpoint is preparing to take audiences back to terrifying heights, with the sequel to 2022’s surprise survival thriller Fall scheduled to arrive in U.S. theaters on September 2, 2026. Directed by Michael and Peter Spierig and written by Scott Mann and Jonathan Frank, the new film moves the franchise from an abandoned television tower to the dangerous mountains of Thailand.

The original Fall became a notable low-budget success. Made for approximately $3 million, the 2022 film reportedly earned around $21 million worldwide, demonstrating that a simple survival concept could generate strong theatrical interest before finding an even wider audience through streaming.

What Is New in Fall 2: Deadpoint?

The sequel follows Jax Hunter, who is grieving the death of her sister Shiloh. She connects with Shiloh's fearless friend Luce, and the two attempt the infamous plank walk on Thailand's Mount Kwan. A sudden rockslide leaves them stranded on a narrow plank approximately 3,000 feet above the ground, forcing Jax to confront her fears in a fight for survival.

Harriet Slater and Arsema Thomas lead the sequel, with Tom Brittney also starring. Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Currey are also part of the cast, connecting the new story to the original film. The Spierig Brothers, known for films including Predestination, Daybreakers and Jigsaw, have taken over directing duties, while original filmmaker Scott Mann remains involved as writer and producer.

Trailer Reaction Looks Promising

The biggest advantage for Fall 2: Deadpoint so far is its marketing response. The first trailer released in June generated significant online attention, while the second trailer followed in July.

According to FlixPatrol's tracking of the trailers, the first trailer had accumulated more than 7.7 million views, with a reported 96% positive rating, while the second trailer had passed 3.4 million views, also carrying a 96% rating. These figures suggest strong interest among viewers who are already familiar with the franchise.

IMDb's early user rating has also been encouraging, although the sample remains extremely small because the film has not yet been released. IMDb currently lists the movie around 8/10, but only a limited number of users have rated it.

That means the early reaction should be viewed as a promising signal rather than a reliable public poll. Rotten Tomatoes, for example, currently has no critic reviews or verified audience ratings because the movie is still upcoming.

Box Office Prediction: Hit or Average?

Our early prediction is that Fall 2: Deadpoint could become a moderate theatrical hit, particularly if it maintains strong word-of-mouth after opening weekend.

A reasonable worldwide range at this stage would be approximately $25 million–$40 million, with a potential upside toward $45 million–$50 million if audience reactions are particularly strong.

The film does not appear positioned as a major blockbuster, but that may not be necessary. The original Fall demonstrated how a relatively inexpensive survival thriller can become profitable with a focused theatrical campaign and strong streaming appeal.

Early Verdict

Trailer: Promising
Audience interest: Strong among thriller fans
Franchise potential: Good
Expected box office: $25M–$40M worldwide
Upside scenario: $45M–$50M+
Early prediction: Above-average genre sequel / potential sleeper hit

With tickets already on sale and the U.S. theatrical release set for September 2, the real test will be whether the sequel can convert online curiosity into opening-weekend ticket sales.

If the finished movie delivers the same claustrophobic tension that made the first film memorable, Fall 2: Deadpoint could prove that this franchise still has plenty of room to climb.
